Qualifications: Master of Performance in Orchestral performance
Biography: Alasdair graduated with Distinction from the Royal College of Music in 2013 after completing a Masters in Performance in Oboe. He studied with the highly acclaimed Fabien Thouand and John Anderson and featured in many of the orchestras and ensembles at the college. Alasdair thoroughly enjoys and is heavily involved in orchestral work. During his undergraduate studies at the RNCM in Manchester, Alasdair was Principal of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, Guest Principal of the Coups de Vents Wind Orchestra and featured in many of the RNCMs orchestras.
In September 2010, Alasdair was accepted on the highly competitive BBC Philharmonic Professional Experience Scheme. This gave him the opportunity to work and perform with the orchestra including a concert on BBC Radio 3, helping him gain invaluable experience and hopefully providing a platform to more professional engagements. More recently he has played with The Philharmonia Orchestra in Buckingham Palace for a royal reception and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia. Alongside Alasdairs orchestral work, he also plays with the Cataleya Quintet (www.cataleyaquintet.com) who have performed at venues including The Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and The National Radio of Spain. Alasdair takes great pride in his education work. Cataleya conduct regular workshops in schools and he teaches the oboe, saxophone and piano privately and as part of The Arts Academy.
