Starting piano lessons in London from a young age can help children develop their skills as early as possible, although it also helps to have a mega talented dad!

Elton John has recently revealed that his four-year-old son, Zachary, could be following in his father’s footsteps after he began taking piano lessons. The Rocket Man singer is famed for his prodigious abilities at the piano, so Zachary has very big shoes to fill.

However, John told People magazine there was no pressure on his son. In fact, he claimed it was Zachary who asked to take lessons, adding that he didn’t need to provide any encouragement.

“[Zachary] just knows what middle C is right now … he’s no Arthur Rubinstein, believe me!” John said while attending the 14th Annual Aids Foundation: An Enduring Vision Benefit, in New York.

John’s husband, David Furnish, said Zachary and two-year-old Elijah, their other son, saw their father perform live for the first time last month. According to the Canadian filmmaker, they witnessed three tracks from his Las Vegas set.

“They were overwhelmed in the sweetest way. ‘Wow! I didn’t know Daddy could do that!’” Furnish explained.

The two boys have recently started school, Zachary at primary school and Elijah at preschool. However, it is not known whether Elijah has also shown an interest in music.

Elton John’s official website claims the Candle in the Wind performer began playing the piano at the age of three. His family say he surprised them by reproducing The Skater’s Waltz entirely by ear.
